Personality & Story
Vertigo is both wolf and wendigo. Normally he is a wolf with antlers and wings. He turns into a wendigo every new moon. He does not have control of himself in wendigo form, and can easily cause harm to others in this state. This greatly distresses him, as the morning after his night as a wendigo he remembers everything he has done. He still doesn't really understand his wendigo side, and deeply wishes he did not have it.
By nature Vertigo is quiet and distrusting of others. He remains solitary in hopes of not hurting other creatures.
...
Vertigo was once a focused, good-natured college student in Capsize. He had a bright future ahead of him. His pleasantly ordinary life was shattered when he accidentally stumbled through a portal to the strange new world of Lotho. He found himself wandering the desert, lost, alone and desperately dehydrated. On the cloudless night of a new moon, he came across a spring at last. In his thirst, he missed the old, worn signs that warned to never drink from it. Alas, poor Vertigo did not know that the spring was cursed, and the dangers were all too real.
Come morning, he realized something was different about himself. Gazing into the spring waters, he saw he now had antlers, like a stag, and great black wings, like a crow. Vertigo could only assume this was a result of the strange spring. All else seemed well, so he continued to wander the desert, looking for answers, and using the spring as a point of reference. A month of wandering and he found himself growing accustomed to this strange new desert, and to being alone.
It was the night of the next new moon that things started to go very badly for Vertigo. The urge to return to the spring was overwhelming. Upon reaching it he collapsed and blacked out. It was the next morning a tide of terror washed over him as he remembered the horrible things he had done the night before. He had killed someone, and maimed viscously another. Now when he looked into the spring, he saw it. It was only for a moment, but he saw the monster he had become.
That accursed spring had done this to him somehow. After the tragedies of his first wendigo transformation, Vertigo vowed to never leave the spring. He would make sure no one else ever drank from it again.
He would be Chaotic Good.
